The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued important instructions for the submission of the list of candidates (LOC) for class 10 and class 12 board exams 2026. According to the guidelines, schools are required to handle direct admissions separately for classes 10 and 12, referring pertinent instances to the relevant regional office. Schools are expected to compile a list of requests for subject changes made by students and send it to the regional office.
Furthermore, this time there will be two board exams for class 10 students starting this academic session. Schools have been requested to go through the two board exam policy and ensure that LOC for all candidates appearing in class 10 is submitted accordingly. “It is once again reiterated that the Main Examinations to be held in Mid-February for Class X is mandatory for all students of Class X, hence the LOC should be filled for all Candidates,” the board stated in its official notice.
Eligibility Criteria Of Candidates For LOC 2025-2026
Principals/Schools must ensure the following while filling LOC:
— Candidates sponsored are their own regular and bonafide students only.
— No bonafide student’s name is left unsponsored.
— Students are not from any unauthorised/unaffiliated schools.
— Students are regularly attending classes in the school and fulfilling the minimum attendance norms as per Examination Bye laws of the Board.
— Students are not registered with any other School Education Board in addition to CBSE.
— The students are eligible to appear in the Board’s Examinations for classes 10, 12 as per provisions of Examination Bye-laws.
— In the case of students of class 12, it is essential to confirm that they have passed their class 10 examination from a recognised School Education Board only on or before the academic year 2024.
CBSE also announced that it has decided to link the APAAR id of candidates for both Class 10 and 12 LOC data. Schools situated abroad are exempted from this rule.
